Lake Mývatn

Mývatn is a shallow lake, situated in a volcanically active area in the north of Iceland, not far from the volcano Krafla. The lake covers about 14 square miles of land and lies at 908 feet above sea level. The area surrounding Lake Mývatn is known world wide for it’s unique landscape and diverse bird life. Lake Mývatn has the most species of breeding ducks in the world. Mývatn is the fourth largest lake in Iceland.
